What does it mean to be a steward in Aviation?
Steward is an individual and specifically a man whose job is to serve meals and take care of passengers on an airplane. Somebody who protects or is accountable for passengers.
The steward will showcase the airline and provide passengers polite assistance. Must be motivated to excel at customer service, and alert to all guest needs.
Taking orders and serving passengers
Escorting old passengers or special need passengers
Serving water to guests and refilling beverage glasses as needed
Placing food and clearance latter
Safety and well-being of the passengers
Steward Requirements and Qualifications
Able to move and adjust in a fast-paced environment
Friendly “people-person”; polite and courteous to all passengers
Patient and helpful when assisting customers
Able to quickly write or memorize multiple orders
Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
Excellent at verbal and written communication
12th Pass from a recognized board
Works well and efficiently under pressure
Able to serve alcohol if required
Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift
Must pass a criminal background check
Able to read, write, and perform basic English
Eager to learn and grow with airline
